Indian Wrestlers started protest against BJP MP Brij Bushan Sharan Singh into the allegations of sexual harrasment of female wrestlers.

Sharan Singh has been accused of touching breasts and navels without consent, stalking, harrassing several female athletes and demanding sexual favours in exchange for professional help.

All these has led to a 'Shared sense of fear and trauma' among the women wrestlers.

Bushan didn't accept all the allegations in front of government appointed committee. Athletes used to camp at Jantar Mantar protest site New Delhi.

The protesting athletes demanding for an immediate arrest which direct the police to register a case against Bushan(66 year old Sharan Singh).

Central government formed a committee to look after the allegations and the report was submitted on 5 April 2023 , then athletes called off the protest but it was not made publically so that the protestors resumed their protest on 23 April 2023, due to biasing by the committee to favour the accused and authorities.

Anurag Thakur, Indian sports minister has been criticised by the athletes for trying to suppress the issue by forming an inquiry committee which did not take any action against Singh. The Prime Minister Modi, who ran a campaign to boost female empowerment has also criticised for keeping the issue quite.

The government promised  to complete the inquiry against this within four weeks. The inquiry report was completed in April but the findings were not made public. The police had not filed case against Sharan Singh so that the athletes resumed the protest against him.

International Space Station

It was more than 50 years ago that the American astronaut Neel Armstrong became the first man to set the foot on the moon on 21 July 1969. As he stepped on to the surface, he made the famous statement:

"One small step for men, One giant leap for men kind"

Many people consider the conquest of space and investigation of its wonders to be the greatest and most exciting challenge human kind faces today. by this standard, the most extraordinary human adventure in space to date may not be arms strong moon landing but the construction of the international space station ISS.
As of 2023, there are two fully operational space stations in low Earth orbit (LEO) – the International Space Station (ISS) and China's Tiangong Space Station (TSS).

The station serves as a microgravity and space environment research laboratory in which scientific research is conducted in astrobiology, astronomy, meteorology, physics, and
other fields. The ISS is suited for testing the spacecraft systems and equipment required for possible future long-duration missions to the Moon and Mars. The International Space Station (ISS) is the largest modular space station in low Earth orbit. The project involves five space agencies: the United States' NASA, Russia's Roscoms, Japan's JAXA, Europe's ESA, and Canada's.

13.1 Station Statistics Of 22 December 2022:

COSPER IO                                     1998-067A
SATCAT NO                                    25544
Call Sign                                          Alpha, Station
Launch                                             20 NOV. 1998 (24 YR. AGO)
Mass                                                 4550000 Kg
Length                                              109m(358ft)
Width                                                73m(239ft)
Orbital Speed                                    7.66km/sec
Day occupied                                   22 yr,7month, 18 days
Current Location                              248 miles(400km) Over our head

         13.2 HISTORY:

In 1984, the United State government announced plans to build a space station, but cost over runs in the design and planning phase led to delays. The project began to take on a concrete from only after the end of the cold war when, in 1993 Russia decided to join the international cooperative for the construction of what is today known as the international space station. In 1986 the soviet government had already begun building its own space station, the MIR (the Russian word for peace) their know-how but especially their experience was crucial to the success of project ISS

13.3 CONSTRUCTION:

Construction began in 1998. First several technicalities had to be ironed out to be ironed out so that the collaboration could proceed without undue fraction. This meant that the work needed to be divided in a sensible and practical manner. On 20 November 1998 the first large piece of the ISS, a freight and control module, was installed in space 350 km above the earth. In the same year, a connecting piece the Russia living quarters module " Svesda", was attached by means of a docking maneuver. From November 2000 to April 2003 the ISS was under construction with a rotating 3-member crew permanently in place. Each ISS crew team spent five to seven months in space before being relieved by the next crew. After the space shuttle Columbia disaster in 2003, it become impossible to resupply the space station at previous levels. With all the American space shuttles grounded, the ISS crew was reduced to two members resupplied by soviet Soyuz spacecraft.

13.4 When it was finished?

The ISS will be a construction of gigantic dimensions, approaching the size of a football field. The solar panels will be 107 meters wide, while the habitable part of the station will be 80 m long and weigh 450 tons. This will be by far than largest space station ever built.  Thus far, with only about 40% of the ISS in place, it is already the largest artificial object in space.

13.5 The total costs for this fantastic project:

It has been, so far incalculable. During the initial planning phase, NASA estimated a total of $40 billion, and it was soon clear that this figure would have to be adjusted upward.

The construction of the ISS is the largest civil engineering project in all human history. As befits its name, A host of nations take part in the project, including the USA Russia, Japan, Canada, Brazil and the European union.

India’s New Parliament building and Why it’s Needed

In the 75th year of Independence, India proudly unveiled a new Parliament building constructed by its own people, and embodying the culture, pride and spirit of the entire nation.

The vast, triangular shaped complex in the heart of Delhi will house the upper and lower parliamentary house. It sits adjacent to the old circular parliament building that was constructed in 1927 by British architects Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Barker, two decades before India’s Independence (during the colonial era), which will now be converted into a museum.

The building was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 28 may 2023, who, dressed in traditional attire, took part in several prayer rituals in a ceremony that was heavy on religious Hindu Symbolism, drawing criticism that it was in line with the secular democracy that the building is meant to enshrine.

“Here is key moment from the grand inauguration of our new Parliament building. A milestone in our nations journey, it radiates the hopes and aspirations of 140 crore Indians” Modi says on their tweeter handle.

The overall development, known as the Central Vista Redevelopment project, which is launched by the Indian government in 2019 included the construction of a new parliament building along with other projects in New Delhi including revamping Kartavya Path, construction of a new residence for the vice president, a new office and residence for the vice president, a new office and residence for the prime minister and combining all ministerial buildings in a single central secretariat.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of New Parliament building was held in October 2020, and the foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on 10 December 2020. The building has been completed in about two and a half years at an estimated cost of nearly (Rs 1200 crore). It was accused of a lack of transparency after it was awarded to architect Bimal Patel, who is from Modi’s home state of Gujrat and has been granted some of the most high-profile government projects in recent years.
According to the architect, materials and designs had been brought in from all over India to reflect the country’s cultural diversity and different architectural styles, including marble from Rajasthan and teak from Maharashtra.

A sacred Sengol, a gold sceptre from the southern state of Tamil Nadu that is said to have been received by India’s first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehra, on Independence in 1947, was also placed by Modi in the new parliament chamber.

12.1 Salient features of the New Parliament:

1) Located on Rafi Marg, New Delhi, the new building is surrounding by the Old Parliament House, India Gate, Vijay Chowk, Vice President’s House, national War Memorial, Prime Minister’s Office & residence, Secretariat Building, Hyderabad House, ministerial building and other administrative units of the Indian government.
2) It has build-up area about 64,500 sq m., with its triangular shape ensuring the optimum utilization of space.
3) The new building will house a larger Lok Sabha Hall with a capacity of up to 888 seats, and a larger Rajya Sabha Hall with a capacity of up to 384 seats. The Lok Sabha may accommodate up to 1,272 seats for joint sessions of parliament.
4) The Lok Sabha Hall is based on the Peacock theme, India’s national bird.
5) The Rajya Sabha Hall is based on the Lotus theme, India's national flower.
6) At the new Parliament’s inauguration ceremony, Modi installed the Chola Sengol near the chair of the Speaker of the Lok Sabha.
7) A state-of-the-art Constitutional Hall in the building “symbolically and physically puts the Indian citizens at the heart of our democracy”.
8) The building will have ultra-modern office spaces that will secure, efficient and equipped with the latest communications technology.
9) A “Platinum-rated Green Building”, the new Sansad Bhavan will embody India's commitment towards environmental sustainability.
10) A central Lounge that will complement the open courtyard will be a place for member to interact with each other. The courtyard will have a banyan, the national tree.

12.2 Need of New Parliament:

1) Insufficient seating space for MPs: The number of Lok Sabha seats is likely to increase significantly from the current 545 after 2026, when the freeze on the total number of seats lifts. “The seating arrangements are cramped and cumbersome, with no desks beyond the second row. The Central Hall has seating capacity only for 440 persons. When the Joint Sessions are held, the problem of limited seats amplifies. Due to limited space for movement, it is also a huge security risk,” says the official site (Central Vesta).
2) Outdated communication systems: The existing Parliament had outdated communication infrastructure and technology, while the acoustics in all the halls needed improvement.
3) Safety concerns: The current Parliament building was constructed when Delhi was in Seismic Zone II, but it is now Seismic Zone IV, raising concerns about its structural safety says the official website (Central Vesta).
4) Distressed infrastructure: The addition of services like water supply and sewer lines, air-conditioning, firefighting equipment, CCTV cameras, etc., have led to seepage of water at several places and impacted the aesthetics of the building. Fire safety is a major concern at the building, the official website (Central Vesta) says.
5) Inadequate workspace for employees: Over the year, due to an increase in workman force, these workspaces were further reduced by creating sub partitions to accommodate more workers.

12.3 Conclusion:

The new parliament building is not just a physical structure, but a symbol of India's Democratic spirit and aspiration. It represents India's rich heritage, culture and diversity, as well as its commitment to upholding the values of the constitution. The new building will also serve as a reminder of India's glorious past, present and future as a vibrant democracy.

The Kerala Story - Movie full of lessons

"The Kerala Story" is a visually stunning and emotionally charged film that takes audiences on a captivating journey through the rich cultural tapestry of South India's enchanting state, Kerala. Directed by a talented filmmaker, the movie delves into the lives of its diverse characters, exploring their dreams, struggles, and the undeniable beauty of the region and a conspiracy that was not explored before.

11.1 Exploration of the movie :

The Kerala Story is a 2023 Indian Hindi- language drama film directed by Stupido Sen and produced by Vipul Amruthlal Shah. Marketed as a true story, the film is premised on the Hindutva conspiracy theory of "love jihad.

'The Kerala Story' narrates the tales of three young girls from various regions of Kerala, with the primary focus on the story of Shalini, who is abducted and subsequently converted to Islam. Shalini is then radicalized and compelled to join ISIS as a terrorist.

It is centered around the alleged radicalization and conversion of young Hindu and Christian women to Islam in Kerala, after which they are forced to join ISIS. The film states that it's a true story of three young girls from different parts of Kerala.

11.2 Politics around the film :

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its associated organisation, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) have supported the film. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi endorsed the film at an election rally in Karnataka, claimed that it had unearthed a conspiracy and alleged Indian National Congress, which opposed the film to support terrorism.

In Kerala, both the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Indian National Congress, the only two parties to have governed the state after since Independence, have objected to the film for spreading "communal misinformation".

In Tamil Nadu, protests were held by Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) and multiple Muslim political organizations.

The film was made tax free in Madhya Pradesh as well as Uttar Pradesh. But the government of West Bengal banned the movie, characterizing the film as hate speech.

11.3 Learnings from the movie :

Important lessons that movie delivered to the audience:-

1) (Irrespective of which religion you are) Don't believe anyone's comment on your religion, go and check the real texts before believing anything. Otherwise a dangerous trap is waiting for you.

2) (Irrespective of you gender) Don't allow anyone to touch you before marriage or even after marriage if you are not comfortable. Because the opposite side can use that allowance for destroying you.

3) Respect your parents then anything else because they are the only security that you all have for life long. Otherwise it won't take time for others to trap you in a love story and make your life a hell.

4) Conversion is never a solution and no religion is greater than other one. So just don't allow anyone to brainwash your mind in any condition. Secularism means respecting not accepting. So just go through dictionary and point out your understanding.

5) Don't take any unprescribed medicine. Even if, your very close friend is giving you. You have internet, just google it and read about it. Even then, don't eat anything just like that. You never know, what other person might be planning against you.

6) Suicide is never a solution! Because coping up mechanism is always there for all the problems. Just consult some counselor if you are getting any such thought. Going to a counselor is not a sin! But committing suicide is definitely a sin.

7) Don't become too much ignorant. Because that will destroy your thinking skills. Think about all the things that are going in your mind and if somebody needs your help, just do that.

8) Fight for the trap at all the possible stage like Miss. Matthews in the movie, because your one courageous step can change many lives.

11.4 Conclusion :

Making a movie that deals with a sensitive topic based in true events is not an easy task. It requires a great deal of research, empathy, and courage. The movie makers deserve appreciation for taking up this challenge and creating a movie that sheds light on an important issue. Releasing the movie against all odds is a testament to their commitment to the story and their dedication to creating a meaningful movie. It is important to watch the movie, recommend it to others, and support the efforts of the filmmaker. Let's just appreciate the hard work and help make the movie a success.
